introduction |
The Qin Dynasty in Ancient China
lasted from 221 BCE to 207 BCE and was responsible for the beginning of the
Chinese Empire (Ouellette, 2010). Legalism was the
predominant political philosophy used during the reign of the Qin (Watkins, 2010). The Qin Dynasty
succeeded in defeating their rival states, and for the first time in centuries,
uniting the entire country of China (The Saylor Foundation, 2012).
The use of Legalism allowed the Qin to effectively unite China to some extent, as the states were successfully united and this allowed much advancement to be made, but the unification only lasted for a brief period and this came at a great human cost. |
